Backups protect you from corrupted saves, broken updates, configuration mistakes, and incompatible mods. Create one before every major change.
Create a backup
- If possible, stop the server to ensure all world and player data is written to disk.
- Open the panel's backup section and start a new backup.
- Wait for the backup task to report completion before restarting the server.
- Use a clear name that includes the date, game version, and reason for the backup.
For important communities, also download periodic copies of irreplaceable world and configuration data. Do not assume that an old backup is complete until you have verified it.
Restore a backup
- Stop the server.
- Create or download a copy of the current files if you may need them later.
- Select the correct backup and review its date.
- Start the restore and wait for it to finish. Restoring can overwrite newer files and progress.
- Start the server, check the console, and test the world and player data.
If you are unsure which backup to restore, contact support before overwriting the current server.
